Playroom ideas

So, I have finally come to realization that we won't be moving within the next year. I wanted to be in a bigger house before we had children. Michael and I really only want to move one more time; so our last move will be into our dream home. We have thrown the ideas of purchasing a forclosed home, forclosed land, and waiting back and forth. We have decided it would be best to wait. We started saving for our future home about 2 years ago. Unfortunately, both of us taking a pay-cut for better (liked) jobs, having a baby, and having to replace a heat and air unit and insulin pump unexpectantly put a halt on that savings.

With all of that said, Michael has realized that his "man room" will soon be a play room. Dylan's toys are big right now and easy to manage. As he gets more and more toys our living room and his bedroom will not be able to handle them. Next year (or maybe toward the end of this one), we will begin transforming what was once a carport into a playroom. I want to make it storage friendly for Dylan as well as safe. We will have to keep Michael's computer in the room. The bar that houses a lot of Michael's collectables will be moved to storage.

I have a few ideas in the back of my head. Here are a few pictures of things I have found online.

My sister-in-law has recently discovered a passion for restoring old/thrift store furniture. I have her on the lookout for something like this. This will replace the decorative "catch all" table in our kitchen. I want to keep the mirror above this cabinet and use it to store Michael's collectable wine/beer glasses in.

I like the idea of the pictures on the wall in this picture. I was going to try to choose a cute theme, but I think this would be a great way to display the 100's of pictures I've taken in the past several months. I'm think collage posters would be really cute.

.

I really like the storage in this room. We have one bookshelf already in the room on one side of our laundry room. It wouldn't take much to get another one just like it and then build lower shelves for Dylan's reach.

With limited space for storage, I really like this idea. It seems a little OCD, but I think it teaches a child how to be organized.

I love the picture idea! The toys will take over, so it is good you have a plan!

Love the playroom idea! I have been tossing ideas back and forth to convert the man cave into a playroom. Can't wait to see your transformation!
