I'm finally getting around to writing about my BIG boy. Dylan went for his 2-year old check up with his new doctor. It went very well. He cried one time when the doctor had to lay him down to do parts of the check-up. Once he was able to sit back up, he stopped crying and was a happy little boy. This also made for one happy mommy!
Dylan is in the 25th percentile for his height he is 32 inches tall. He did not rank on the charts for his weight. He weighs 22 lbs. The doctor said he was well below the 5th percentile, but he wasn't concerned. He said typically with that large of a gap between height/weight most doctors would say he may be malnourished. LOL! We know the boy EATS! Developmentally he was right on track and the doctor did not show any concerns. I asked about potty training and discussed what Dylan is doing, but was told to use my own approach. I really liked that response. We discussed that with Dylan's personality forcing the issue may make it worse. If we get closer to 3 and still don't have potty training down, we may have to take that approach.
Dylan is:
- wearing 12-18 months pants. 12 months are short, 18 months fall off. We have found that Children's Place makes a 12-18 month! They are perfect
- He wears 18 month shirts. Some brands are a little large, but I like his shirts to look bigger.
- He wears a size 6 shoe and loves to have on boots!
- He is sleeping in a BIG BOY bed and has been for about a month. He does very well. He has only gotten up out of it a few times in the middle of the night. We actually think that may be the fact that he is dreaming. We even found him under it one morning.
- He loves trains, trucks, and tractors. What boy doesn't?
- He enjoys playing outside and has even had a tantrum or two when we make him come inside
- He enjoys flipping through books and being read to. He can often times be found sitting in his bedroom surrounded by books he has pulled off the shelves.
- He is really getting into trying to "read" the book to us. He grabs his "first word" books and names everything as he points to the pictures.
- He says so many words and even uses sentences on a regular basis.
- In the last week, his vocabulary and speech has drastically changed.
- He is able to tell us if something is bothering him, which makes being a Mommy so much easier. He has told us about a tummy ache and pointed to his head regarding a headache.
- He lets us know when he is ready to go to bed, if it is before we plan to put him in bed.
- He continues to enjoy bathtime.
- He is able to undress himself and does it even when we aren't expecting him to. Anytime his diaper is wet or dirty, he strips off all of his clothes.
- He can put on his own pants, shoes, and socks. He has trouble putting on a shirt, but can put his arms through the sleeves once it's over his head.
- He wants to have a "Kanky" (blanket) nearby all the time. He hasn't picked one that he has to have; he is happy as long as he has one.
- He talks on the phone to his grandparents on a regular basis.
- He is still non-stop running, climbing, and being a boy.
- He is tough and usually doesn't shed a tear if he falls.
- Coloring is one of his favorite things to do. He knows what crayons are orange.
- He uses his left hand to throw a ball, grab toys, feed himself, and write. He uses his right hand a lot, but shows more dominance with the left hand.
- He can identify a star, circle, and triangle.
- He knows most zoo and farm animals and the sounds they make.
- He is FUN FUN FUN
