show and tell friday

My very first show and tell friday.

We have Pecan trees in our yard!!!! So since I've been on vacation this week. I have been picking up the ones that are on the ground.
Apparently we have three different trees. These are the pecans we have. I should probably leave the smaller ones for the wildlife....
Does anyone know where I can find a nutcracker? I would love to be able to crack these and use them for a fall dessert.

last night

Last night we went to dinnner with Nick, Robyn, Brent and Stephanie( both from Michigan). We had a great time laughing and talking about funny things that had happened over the past few years, many of which included Jason. We miss him soooo much. Can't wait until he is better.

So anyway, Michael and I got home, turned on the tv and I grabbed my laptop. I just could not wait to post pictures of the cake and my new findings.

After giving all of YOU the recipe for the cake and posting the pictures of the prettiest pound cake I have ever seen, I decided to try it.

It was TERRIBLE. The inside was not done. The recipe said when the knife of toothpick comes out clean, it's done..... Well that happened. So when we left last night. I pulled it out of the oven so that it could cool. I knew it was strange when I got home and it shrunk, but I thought that was normal.

Well, we tried to save the cake. We put it on a pan and popped it back in the oven for twenty min, turned off the oven, left the cake in the oven, and went to bed.

I was hoping that by some miracle this morning it would be fluffy and good. Nope still gross. It was terrible. Sooooo, I'm not sure what went wrong or if it was suppose to taste like that and it is just a bad recipe.
Soooooo, the beautiful cake is in the trash....

Does anyone have a different recipe I could try?

Vacation

This week I have been on vacation. When I say vacation, I don't mean a relaxing trip to the beach or a site-filled trip to mountains. I just mean time away from work. I had some extra time to use before the end of the year (yes, i work for one of those companies that if you don't use it you lose it). So I decided to take this week off.
This is what I have been doing:
Monday:
Michael was off. He did yard work. I did house work. I went to my mom's to go through stuff I still had there.
Tuesday:
My friend, Julie and I went shopping. I got a new purse and shoes as well as more CRAFTS!!!!
For supper tuesday night I made an AWESOME recipe. You have to try it.
Mexican Hamburger Casserole
1 pkg. boil in a bag rice
Tbsp butter or margarine
1 med jar of chunky salsa
1 tsp garlic
1tsp onion powder
1 lb. ground beef lean
1 bag of mexican shredded cheese.
salt and pepper to taste
Cook meat and rice. Drain. mix butter, salt, and pepper with rice. Mix salsa, rice, meat, garlic, onion powder in casserole dish. Top with Cheese. Bake about 20 min. (long enough for the cheese to melt) at 350!!! Enjoy.
Sorry I dont have a picture but I promise it is sooooo good.

Wednesday
I worked on a paper all morning, went through stuff for our yardsale, and went to class.
Somewhere in between there I went with my mom to my aunts house to deliver a b-day gift.

Today:
I helped Julie get Cooper ready. He was not feeling well. I went to watch him so that she could get ready. He had to go to the DR. :-(
I came home finished my paper, cleaned my house, and started to make a cake.....when, our friends from Michigan came knocking on the door. I was so excited to see them. They stayed to visit for about an hour. We are meeting them for dinner in a little while. So now the cake is in the oven. I hope it finishes before they call to go eat!!!!! It's a cream cheese pound cake.
I'll post a pic and recipe later. I'll let you know how it turns out. I have only made a pound cake once and it was TERRIBLE!!! Hope it's better this time

I hope you all are having a great week. My vacation is slowly coming to an end :-(... I would love to be a stay at home wife!! The house is spotless and and supper has been ready everynight when Michael gets home. What do you think?????

Difficult!!!!!

As many of you already know, Jason, was moved to the nursing home where I work. He arrived yesterday shortly after lunch. I was working on some paperwork and started to take it to the nurses when I spotted Jason's mom. I gave her a hug and she just broke down. We went outside and of course cried together. I assured her he was going to be ok.

Jason arrived within the next few minutes. I went back to work. A few of the nurses asked me if I was ok, and I responded, "Yes, I'm fine."

I clocked out at my usual time and headed to Jason's room to see him. Remember the last time I saw him was about a month ago..... Well he was wide awake and watched every move we made. He looked better to me.

I can't go into any details on his condition, etc. now because I am employed at the nursing home and I could lose my job. And boy we all know that I need it.

But the point of my story.....

I have cried off and on throughout the last two months. I have questioned, "Why." I have prayed every way I know how. I have prayed throughout the day. I know that God is in control of this. When Jason's family was trying to make the choice of where to move Jason, I prayed that God would put Jason where he wanted him... and he did. He put him close to home, a place where Jason has family and friends working, a place where people he knows can visit anytime, a place where he is LOVED!!!!

Yes it rips my heart apart seeing Jason in the nursing home. My eyes tear up throughout the day. I could not eat my lunch today; I'm just heartbroken. But.... on the otherside, I know Jason will be taken care of, I know that I am there to see that he is, I know that his cousin is there and his aunt is there. Most of all I know with our faith in GOD Jason will pull through. He will be ok.

I am so grateful that I will be able to witness the miracles in which GOD has in store for Jason.

I've been BUSY!!

So it's been a while and I know you all have been wondering....

I have been extremely busy between several new projects, taking care of my house, and writing a paper for school; I have not had a chance to BLOG!! So...

My friend Robyn found out she is having a BOY!!!!

So I made her this card....

I saw this outside today.... Happy Halloween!!!

I bought some more FALL crafts.

And turned this....

Into this.....

I went through my mom's fall decorations. She told me to take what I wanted... she was not going to put it all out this year.... So I got....

And the jack o'latern candle holders... This is my dresser now and my bathroom now.

I also got a really cute welcome sign and 3 really "sweet" witches. I forgot to take pictures. I bought brown cloth napkins and khaki (dollar tree) napkin rings for my table. I decided to put the pumpkin placemats out.... but not sure if I like them. I think I will keep my eye out after the season for new ones for next year.

I hope that you guys have had an awesome week and have a even better weekend!!!!
