Wow what a Wonderful First Anniversary

Opening the cake

Cutting the cake together

Me eathing the cake, with wine... yep wine. So Good
Michael having cake

First I have to say I have the most amazing husband. We had an awesome first anniversary.

What I gave:

This morning on the kitchen table I left Michael a card and a vase with 365 reasons or things I love about him, (one for each day until our second anniversary).

Then this afternoon I gave Michael a book that takes place during Pearl Harbor (he loves to read books during Civil War times so I though... maybe this one would be good), the book 1000 places to see before you die in the USA and Canada, and a journal ( I wrote about our first year together and Michael will write about our anniversary, each year we will do this), and then I bought a six pack of Guinness and around each bottle I put $20 bill. He loved it.

He gave:

This morning I had a card on the table, he sent flowers to work, when I got home he left me a poem in a frame that he had written, and when he got home he said, "there's one more thing," and he gave me a ring guard for my diamond!! It's so pretty. We have to take it and have it fixed because it doesn't quit fit around my diamond.

We enjoyed blacked tilapia, steamed aspagrus, oven potatoes, and yeast rolls for dinner. For dessert we had our wedding cake and it was good!!

The wine was purchase during our visit to the Biltmore house.. Delicious.
P.S. Notice my new highlights

Catch up

I haven't posted in a while so I thought I would do a little catching up. Since I last posted we celebrated my dad's birthday last weekend. We went to Olive Garden which was amazing!!!!
This past week Michael has had a terrible cold and felt under the weather. He is getting better except for the massive amount of cold sores that have appeared around his nose!!!
Yesterday, after church, Michael and I worked in the yard. We planted a few more flowers and added mulch to our flower box and around our bird bath.
Tonight, we are going to relax and plan our Biltmore trip this weekend!!! Next Monday is our anniversary!!
Tradition says.... Paper as anniversary gifts. I have no clue what to get Michael. I have a few really sweet ideas. We are saving a lot of our money so we will not be buying expensive anniversary gifts.....
Stay tune for the update on what I decide to do for Michael!!!!

Weekend

Wow how the weekends fly by. Saturday my Aunt Diane got married. As you all know she has been married before. Her husband died of MS. Chuck, the lucky man she married Saturday, also lost his wife.

The story: Chuck found my phone number when I lived in Dahlonega, he contacted me, asked me for Diane's number, and seven years later they get married. Brief story. Diane set the date for Colin's first birthday. Unfortunately we did not think we would make the wedding but we were able to.

To my surprise, Diane had the diamond from my Uncle Rick put on a necklace, and she gave it to me before the wedding Saturday. Talk about tears!!!!!! I felt so special!

Colin's first birthday went great!!!! He is such a miracle. We had hotdogs and hamburgers and despite the weather had a great day.

Lungs

About two weeks ago I stumbled across a blog that I have become addicted to. It's about a girl about my age that has Cystic Fibrosis. She found out she was pregnant, which was not planned. Her and her husband had to decide if they wanted to keep the baby. The survival rate for her and the baby were less than 50 percent. They decided to go for it. Gwyneth Rose was born at 24 weeks, 16 weeks early!!!!! She is growing fast and doing great.
Tricia, the mother, was placed back on the donor list for new lungs. After several "dry runs," to their surprise they had a match yesterday. Last night, while all of us were sound to sleep, her family was pacing the waiting room of Duke University. Tricia was in surgery. The surgery was 9 hours long. I read today that she is doing great and is awake and alert.
God is amazing!!!!! Not only was she not suppose to live long she also has a new set of lungs, is married, and has a beautiful baby.

Amazing

Today I truly felt God's grace. I worked over tonight, something I have been doing for three short weeks. I was in the dining room at the nursing home and just caught the eye of one of our male residents. His wife was in bad shape and we all knew she would not last long. He was coming toward me and I quickly asked him if I could help him with something. He said he was going back to be with his wife. I offered to push him the short distance to her room. He quietly said, "if you don't mind." So we went up the hall. As we entered the room, his wife took her last breath. How amazing. It brought tears to my eyes. They were married for so long, he knew that she was leaving him. Just an amazing feeling!!!!! Bitter Sweet!
