Thursday...more like Hurtday

Top picture of my entire body, lower image of my gallbladder and stone!!

The gall stone!! I had to take the picture with my camera bc it would not let me save images.

So...after going to work and bragging on my sweet boy, he can now roll over!! I had a very busy day at work and did not get home until 5:00. I had a presentation after school with my wonderful colleagues. After the meeting, I met with my principal to catch up on what she presented. (We rotate through 3 stations for professional learning every other Thursday). I looked at my watch and realized I was sooooo late. I told the babysitter I would be later than normal, but not that late. Thank goodness she is so understanding and so laid back. Anyway...to the real story.

I cooked Chicken Parmesean earlier in the week and we had plenty left. So, Michael and I decided to eat it since we were both late getting home. I made some homemade spicy (not really) dressing and garlic toast to go with it. It was fabulous!! I ate really fast because Dylan was getting fussy, needed a bath, and was ready for "cuddle/calm" down time. We cuddle and read (if he feels like it) before his last feeding. Well, I got the bath and feeding taken care of and Dylan was almost asleep. I decided not to try to read to him, but instead put him to bed. I got up from the chair and felt a little discomfort in my abdomin. Nothing, unusual. I just thought it was from eating so fast or that I may just need to go to the bathroom (TMI, sorry). I put Dylan in his crib, fought with him to stay on his back (my patience was getting less and less bc the pain was getting more and more), and finally decided to leave him on his side because I was not feeling well. Michael had asked me to trim up the rough edges around his hairline before going to bed. By this time, I had already tried to go to the bathroom, but couldn't. I did Michael's hair, brushed my teeth, and headed straight to bed. AND THIS IS WHERE THE EXCITEMENT BEGINS. Michael came in to tell me goodnight. I told him I just did not feel well, and my stomach was hurting. I thought it would go away though. He went on to get ready for bed and within seconds, I was pounding down the bathroom door. The pain was so intense, so I thought. I took some GAS medicine, hoping for relief. Seconds later, I was leaned over the kitchen counter in severe pain; screaming and crying. It was nothing I had ever felt before. I thought...oh, no I have food poisoning. It got worse and worse...to the point of not being able to breath with ease. Within a few minutes I was vomiting (I think from the intense pain). I ruled out a stomach virus because I got no relief from vomiting. The pain just kept getting worse. I told Michael to call my parents for Dylan and to take me to the ER. I normally by pass the local hospital and head straight to a larger one. I knew I could not make it any further. And of course, it was BUSY!!! So, after waiting about an hour and a half in intense pain; I was called back. They checked vitals, did a pregnancy test (can't give pain meds until that is ruled out, oh how I was wishing I was a man at that point), and did blood work. I had to wait another 2 hours for all the results to come back. Finally, good news; I'm not pregnant!! Bad news, enzymes in blood levels are high. Pain meds and meds for nausia were given. The dr. explained that the enzymes could be a result of liver or pancreas inflammation. He said the only way to find out for sure was to do a CT scan. He then asked the stupidest question, "Do you want to know what is wrong?" DUH!!!! That's why I came here!!! So a CT was ordered. This process took 3 hours from beginning to end. The drink takes an hour to work before the test is ever started and the results take about 2 hours to get back. So 3 hours later, we were told I have gall bladder disease and possible gall stones. I would need to follow up with my dr the next day. I was not in immediate danger. They sent me home with pain meds (stronger than what I got when I had Dylan) and nausia meds. The next morning I went to my family dr, who then sent me to a surgeon. We went over the report from the hospital, my symptoms, and discussed surgery. He said as of right now I'm not sick enough to require emergency surgery, but I am a candidate because of the presence of gallstones and the atttack I experienced (which by the way was worse than any contraction I had while in labor). He sent me back to the hospital for an ultrasound, because apparently a CT scan doesn't show enough. The ultrasound tech determined there are gallstones. I follow up with the surgeon on Monday. So now, I'm awaiting a surgery date and hanging in there eat very healthy. I was told NO FAT and no alcohol and both can trigger another attack. So for the quesidilla stuff I had already cooked for my Friday night dinner party..Michael enjoyed them. I really should have just told everyone to come and eat. I had delicious soup for lunch and cereal for supper. I may end up smaller than my pre-pregnancy weight if the surgery isn't soon!!!
