New Parents

Being a new mommy is amazing and tough. I never imagined I could love someone so much. Dylan is the light of my life and truly amazing even in the middle of the night. He is made me fall even more in love with Michael as well. Michael has been wonderful. He wasn't very comfortable with Dylan at first but he did anything I asked him to do. At the hospital he jumped everytime I needed him because boy was I sore. When we got home he quickly became "bottle maker, shoulder to cry on, house cleaner, clothes washer, etc." He has always been a great husband but now he is above and beyond. I am one lucky girl.

So what has Dylan been up to? Well he turned 3 weeks old on Tuesday!! Yes I can't believe it! He is eating 2 1/2 to 3 ounces every 2-3 hours. Most of the time he is able to go 3 hours, sometime (rarely) he will go 4 hours. He is on somewhat of a schedule. Michael feeds him his last "normal" feeding usually around 11 at night (he lets me go to bed). I get up between 1 and 2 and then again between 4 and 5. Most of the time Dylan gets changed, eats, and goes right back to sleep. However, there have been a few nights of fussiness. He was awake from 2-5 a.m. Last night, we were awake from 1 to 7!! He wasn't fussy, he was just wide awake.

He is wearing 0-3 months clothes. Some of his newborn sleepers still fit, it just depends on the brand. Some 3 months stuff is gigantic and some fits perfect.

He loves a pacifier. I was leaning more toward not using one but when it calms a fussy baby I will do anything. He doesn't take it all the time but sometimes it helps get that extra thirty minutes in before a feeding. We try to stretch him as far as he can go if he wakes up before 3 hours.

During the day he is most alert and active in the morning and later in the evening. He is like his Daddy and thinks everytime he is awake he has to eat, so his alertness is accompanied by a little crying. The swing or mobile usually calm him right down.

He loves to cuddle and of course so do I. He likes to lay his head on my shoulder and snuggle into my neck so that he is touching me. He usually has one hand up near my face and the other wrapped around my arm. I just love it!!

He weighed 8 lbs 6 ounces and was still 20 1/2 inches long at his 2 week appointment. I'm curious to see what he weighs at his 1 month!! He is a growing boy!!

I am glad everyone is doing well! The love for your child is like none other! Michael is already a wonderful father and he will only get better. I hope for your sake he starts sleeping better before you go back to work.
